The MEES Directory of Semiskilled Trades has recently been updated for 2017–2018, and two new Semiskilled Trades have been added: Moccasin Maker (Sector 04-Arts) and Exterior Siding Cleaner (Sector 07-Buildings and Public Works). These additions offer several new competencies for Prework Training students to chose from and two new qualification opportunities for interested students in the Semiskilled Trades program.
Moccasin Maker (Artisane, artisan dans la confection de mocassins)

Training to work as a Moccasin Maker is intended to take place “in a manner consistent with traditional First Nations ways of handing down knowledge.” For more information, go directly to this semiskilled trade title in the Directory.

Many companies across Quebec offer employment opportunities for Exterior Siding Cleaners, so this is an exciting opportunity for students who have the physical capability and enjoy working outdoors. Appropriate safety and WHMIS training is vital for this type of work. See the Directory for details.
